Telling the Time by Dandelions ~ This is One Reunion Gig Worth Waiting for ~ The Claim are Back!
August 10, 2009 by Vic
Oh yes, The Claim are back. If only for one night (though a second London date has been rumoured). That night will be September 19th 2009. The band are proud of their roots in the tiny village of Cliffe, on the North Kent marshes and reform in the neighbouring town of Rochester to celebrate the long-overdue release of a Best Of and Rarities collection entitled Black Path. The album will be released on Cherry Red subsidiary Rev-Ola a week later. (Rev-Ola have previoulsy released discs by The Jasmine Minks and The Dentists, both of whom have strong links with the Claim).
It is hoped that the release will prompt a CD reissue of their two albums, Armstrong’s Revenge and, the minor classic, Boomy Tella.
I have championed their cause on Pop Junkie before so have little to add other than they really were a great band and, an hour east of London, this will be a gig well worth travelling for.
It’s £3 on the door (8pm) at the The Royal Function Rooms, Victoria Street (off Star Hill), Rochester with support acts to be confirmed.
He’s a new video to accompany one of their many unreleased, yet incredibly good, tracks. Recorded just before their pre-Britpop split, Between Heaven and Woolworths, was played live on just a couple of occasions, but proves, along with other latter-day gems Being a Minor and Lonely Tarts, that they were creatively far from exhausted when they called it a day.

Really hoping I can get back for this one.
Shame it was switched from the 12th though, could have got a Gills game in too!
